Thistle School XXIX from 5 through 10 July 2009, during the week preceding the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. Although Thistledoon has again faded into the mists, we are fortunate that we only need to wait a year for it to reappear. Next year promises to be as joyful and fulfilling as previous years. An exciting bit of news is that the newly renovated old gym will be available for our classes and for the Gala. Most dancers have loved the floor at the old gym, but found the rest of the facility to be lacking in many respects. After receiving extensive renovations including a new roof, the building is now open with new offices, a fitness center and a cafe, as well as the renovated gym floor. The Thistle School of Scottish Country Dance provides instruction in the correct techniques and manner of Scottish Country Dancing, the historic and contemporary social dancing of Scotland.
